Deal alert: Points and miles travel deals for September 2024 --[Reported by Umva mag]

Recently, we found several IHG promos offering bonus points and elite credits, as well as a new crop of discounts and bonuses for buying points and miles. You can also get 20% off weekend Marriott stays if you act fast and earn bonus points on Amtrak train trips this fall. But that’s not all.

Here’s our list of some noteworthy new points and miles promotions for September.

Airline loyalty program promotions (September 2024)

Airline loyalty programs can offer trip discounts on certain dates, the chance to earn more miles for future travel and deals to rack up points toward elite status. Below are some of the offers we found for September.

Get 50% more KrisFlyer miles when you transfer ALL points

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Accor Live Limitless recently expanded their partnership. While members who linked their accounts could previously transfer ALL points to KrisFlyer miles at a 2:1 ratio, they can now transfer KrisFlyer miles to ALL points at a 9:2 ratio — and this new option was introduced with a limited-time transfer bonus.

• Get a 50% bonus when you convert points in either direction. If you transfer ALL points to KrisFlyer miles, this increases the ratio to 2:1.5. If you transfer KrisFlyer miles to ALL points, this gives you a ratio of 9:3.
• This bonus ends Sept. 30, 2024.

Save on Emirates Cash + Miles tickets

If you’re considering a last-minute fall getaway, this deal could be for you. Your Emirates Skywards miles can go farther when you book a Cash + Miles ticket this fall.

• During this promotion, 2,000 Skywards miles are worth $20 on economy and premium economy bookings, while 10,000 miles are worth $200 in first and business class. There’s no minimum number of miles, so you can pay for part of your ticket’s cost with as little as 1 mile.

• Book by Sept. 30 and travel by Nov. 30, 2024.

Emirates doesn’t use a set conversion rate for Cash + Miles bookings; the value you’ll usually get per mile depends on factors like origin and destination cities, season, cabin and fare price. So, you’ll probably get the most savings from this deal if you’re booking high-demand routes on peak dates. Since you can use as little as 1 mile, this could be a great way to use any miles that are about to expire.

Hotel loyalty program promotions (September 2024)

Hotel loyalty programs occasionally offer discounted stays, ways to earn extra points and deals at various properties. We collected some of this month’s best deals below.

5,000 points for new IHG members

IHG One Rewards recently extended its new-member bonus. If you haven’t joined the program yet, you can earn 5,000 bonus points just for signing up and completing your first night’s stay.

• Set up your new account through this link, then book and complete your first stay within 21 days of joining.
• Your qualifying stay must be a minimum of one night that’s booked directly through IHG, with a total spend exceeding $30 per night. Your stay must be booked fully with cash; reward nights and Points & Cash bookings are not eligible. Be sure to enter your new IHG One Rewards number during booking.
• Participating hotels include all IHG Hotels & Resorts with the exception of select Six Senses properties that do not participate in IHG One Rewards and Iberostar Beachfront Resorts that are not yet integrated into the IHG One Rewards program.
• You’ll receive 5,000 bonus points — in addition to the points you would normally earn on your stay — within six weeks of checkout.
• You have until Jan. 31, 2025, to join IHG One Rewards and complete your stay.

Although we usually recommend registering for any hotel promotion you come by, this is a rare case where you should hold off. Since you’ll only have three weeks to complete your stay after registering, plan your travel dates and time your registration accordingly.

Bonus Marriott points at AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway

If your fall travels will take you to Atlanta, listen up. This promotion for 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per night at AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway is very specific, but it could potentially help you accumulate a lot of points.

• Earn 5,000 bonus points per night during your stay at AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway.
• No registration is required, but the terms and conditions state that a limited number of rooms are available during this promotion and that blackout dates, including special events, may apply.
• Book by Nov. 6, 2024, using promo code “M11.”

1,000 points when you link your Marriott and Starbucks accounts

Over the last few months, Marriott Bonvoy and Starbucks Rewards teamed up to let members of both programs link their accounts and transfer points from Marriott to Starbucks. Now, they’re encouraging new members to join with a 1,000-point offer.

• This bonus is open only to new members of Marriott Bonvoy or Starbucks Rewards who both enroll in Marriott Bonvoy or Starbucks Rewards and link their accounts.
• You will earn 1,000 bonus points, whether you join one program or both.

Credit card promotions (September 2024)

Card issuers sometimes offer deals and discounts for certain cardholders on everything from airfare to restaurant dining. Here are some of the offers we’ve rounded up this week.

Targeted Chase Offer at Best Western

Chase is offering a great deal on a Best Western stay for targeted cardmembers. We found this on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Freedom Unlimited® and the Chase Freedom Flex®.

• Earn 10% cash back on your Best Western stay when you spend $100 or more, with a $32 cash-back maximum.
• Offer valid at domestic properties of Best Western, Best Western Plus, Best Western Premier, Vib, GLo, Aiden and Executive Residency. SureStay Hotels and WorldHotels do not qualify.
• As with all Chase Offers, you must add the offer to your card and make the payment with your enrolled card. Payment must be made directly with the merchant (as opposed to an online travel agency or Chase Travel℠, for instance) in a single transaction.
• This offer expires Oct. 10, 2024.

Targeted Amex Offer at EVA Airways

We found a targeted offer on The Platinum Card® from American Express that could be useful if you’re considering a transpacific trip.

• Receive a $180 statement credit when you spend $1,200 or more with EVA Airways.
• Your qualifying flight must originate in the U.S. and be charged in dollars, and you must book it directly through the EVA Airways website or app using your enrolled eligible card.
• You must book by Dec. 31, 2024, but the flight can take place at a later date.

Car rental promotions (September 2024)

Earn a free day when you rent twice from Avis

If you’re planning to rent a vehicle this fall or winter, this promotion for Avis Preferred members can help you reach free rental days faster.

• Earn one free rental day for every two rentals you complete. Qualifying rentals consist of a minimum of two paid consecutive days’ base charges in an intermediate car class or above.
• You can use this promotion multiple times, up to a maximum of five free days earned each month.
• You must register for this promotion here. However, you can still take advantage of the promotion for rentals booked before you registered if they occurred in the same month as registration. (For example, if you register Sept. 30, 2024, rentals taking place from Sept. 1, 2024, will qualify, but any that took place in August will not be eligible for the promotion.)
• Register and complete your rentals by Feb. 28, 2025.
• This promotion only applies to residents of the U.S. and Canada (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
