Dakar, Senegal

Since arriving on Tuesday, September 24th, General Cham has met with General Mbaye Cisse, Chief of General Staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces. The visit includes military honors, wreath-laying ceremonies, and meetings with high-ranking Senegalese military officials.

General Cham’s itinerary also includes visits to military training facilities, museums, and the Senegalese Defense Institute. His visit is part of a growing trend of cooperation between Gambia and Senegal, as evidenced by recent joint cross-border patrols and security meetings.

The two countries’ commitment to addressing shared security challenges and strengthening cross-border security was demonstrated by a joint patrol conducted in August 2024 by Senegalese and Gambian military forces.
