‘Who knows?’ – Premier League boss coy on Manchester United speculation --[Reported by Umva mag]

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is ‘very happy’ with the Bees, but is in no rush to quell speculation linking him with the Manchester United job.

Erik ten Hag remains in charge at Old Trafford but few expect him to be in the role for the long-term after a nightmare start to the season.

The Dutchman was already under pressure after an underwhelming last campaign and with the Red Devils sitting 14th in the Premier League table after seven games, that pressure is not easing.

He has survived the latest international break but he desperately needs positive results, starting on Saturday against Brentford, to hang onto his job.

Frank would love to deny him what he wants when he takes his team to Old Trafford this weekend and seems perfectly comfortable with the suggestion that he could replace Ten Hag at Manchester United.

The Danish manager has been at Brentford since 2018 and has regularly been linked with a step up after doing an impressive job there, which he finds perfectly normal.

‘I’ve said many times I’m very happy at Brentford,’ Frank told talkSPORT. ‘Who knows what will happen in the future. Maybe I stay here for many years. I’m open, maybe something happens.

‘But first and foremost, very happy, just working very hard every day to make the club better.

‘It’s very difficult to predict the future. Who knows what will happen. How many coaches have been at the same club more than six years? Very few. The nature of the game, let’s put it that way.’

Specifically on links to Manchester United, he added: ‘There is a lot of rumours out there.

‘Every club, every coach, all kinds of situations. I have this nice little principle that I never speak about players that are not in my club because I don’t know them well enough. And I don’t speak about speculation either way.’

The 51-year-old is not one of the favourites to replace Ten Hag, although his odds were shortened by Thomas Tuchel taking the England job as the German was touted as a strong contender for the Red Devils gig.

The likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Gareth Southgate, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna are thought to be in the running if the United hierarchy relieve Ten Hag of his duties.
