Delvey’s deportation failed when she refused to leave the ICE detention center to go to the airport, according to German newspaper Der Spiegel.

She was then released and put on house arrest in New York, before a judge granted her permission to fly to Los Angeles after booking a slot on DWTS.

Fans of the show have questioned why she is still allowed to live in the country, let alone work, after her time behind bars.

Contestants on the show are paid big sums of money, but it has never been confirmed how much Delvey is getting for her gig.

Ellen Sullivan, an attorney with Cambridge Immigration Law, told The U.S. Sun there is a possibility she will lose her deportation case.

“Anna Sorokin’s conditions of release were amended by a Department of Justice immigration judge,” an ICE spokesperson told the BBC.

Delvey’s current immigration lawyer, John Sandweg, told the outlet that lengthy deportation cases are not uncommon in the United States, but that his client’s situation has been “fairly protracted.”

He also confirmed: “Her criminal case has also been on appeal for a long time and that has had an impact.”

Delvey’s bond conditions were relaxed in August after her team argued they were too restrictive.

Sandweg said: “We challenged those. She was banned from social media. We argued that was unconstitutional,” adding that she had kept to her parole conditions.

Delvey’s former friend, Rachel Williams, who is suing Netflix over the portrayal of her character in the series, Inventing Anna, is said to be unimpressed by her being on DWTS.

Williams’ lawyer Alexander Rufus-Isaacs said her participation was “glamorizing and minimizing the crimes she committed, and minimizing the impact on the people she hurt.”

Meanwhile, an insider has told The U.S. Sun that Delvey is annoying her dance partner, Ezra Sosa.

“There is a lot of tension between Anna and Ezra, and it is growing by the day,” the source said.

“Certainly the cause of much of it is that Anna seems less focused on collaboration and more focused on herself.

“She can be negative too about what she can achieve with dances, even though she keeps telling everyone she is a hard worker.

“Ezra has been frustrated, because he really wants to make an impact as the new kid on the block at DWTS.”
