Shocking pictures showed one of the wrecked carriages suspended almost vertically in mid-air as worried onlookers gather nearby. Rescue workers and disaster teams rushed to the scene after the Kanchanjunga Express was hit by a goods train from behind. The crash happened in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. Around 60 people were hurt in the horrific crash, PTI news reports, but at least 25 of them did not suffer life-threatening injuries. They have been rushed to a nearby hospital as officials continued the rescue operation, ANI reported. Several coaches on the express train were reportedly derailed on impact. The death toll remained relatively low after the collision because the rear of the passenger train was made up of a cargo van and guards coach.
