The snooker season is in a really busy spell as the British Open begins on Monday just a matter of hours after the conclusion of the English Open on Sunday night.

Neil Robertson lifted the trophy in Brentwood and will be in action in Cheltenham as he looks to continue the fine form which led to him beating Wu Yize in Sunday’s final.

Mark Williams is the defending champion at the British Open after his memorable win over Mark Selby in last season’s final.

All the sport’s biggest names are due to be on the baize in Cheltenham, with the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, Mark Allen and John Higgins all scheduled to play their opening games on Monday.

The tournament brings with it a unique format as it is the only event on the calendar to employ the FA Cup-style random draw after each round.

That means anyone can meet anyone else at any stage, as evidenced by Mark Allen taking on Gary Wilson in the very first round on Monday afternoon.

How to watch the British Open

ITV will be showing the action on ITV4, with ITVX streaming table two.
