He was 19. Border Force checks were virtually non-existent. He was even flagged up by Prevent as a potential terrorist and seen with a machete. But cops couldn’t find him and nothing got done until too late. An inquest would reveal just how this creature slipped through the net, if indeed a net exists. Instead the attitude seems to be: Well, these things happen. What a sickening outrage. Can’t patients who have NOT committed prison-worthy crimes be the priority? And why are we still releasing villains before their sentences are complete instead of packing them off to Estonia to finish them? Our Nato ally is offering to rent out its half-empty jails.
