Drivers have been caught in hour-long queues on the M62 in West Yorkshire after a car went up in flames on the motorway.

The road and rail networks have felt the brunt of the recent heavy rain and flooding yesterday which delayed trains and closed carriageways – some of which remain closed for a second day.

Now motorists face more misery – this time in West Yorkshire on the M62 where the carriageway has closed westbound between J27 and J26 due to the fire and recovery.

Footage shows the charred wreckage in the middle of the road as traffic tries to squeeze past. The area has delays of up to an hour heading westbound.

The A421 in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire is still closed due to flooding blocking the road in both directions, and this is having a knock-on effect on the A5.
