Africa’s political leaders, business figures, musicians and social media influencers will this week converge in New York for the Global Africa Business Initiative flagship event, Unstoppable Africa.

Scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, the event will highlight the continent’s potential to shape the global development agenda amid the backdrop of the United Nations General Assembly.

It aims to elevate Africa’s voice on the global stage and foster partnerships that will drive sustainable development across the continent.

Co-convened by the United Nations Global Compact and the African Union, Unstoppable Africa comes in the wake of the recent adoption of the Pact for the Future, showcasing how Africa is instrumental in driving global ambitions for Agenda 2063.

The high-profile event will feature notable speakers including Angolan President João Lourenço, Kenyan President William Ruto, African Union Commission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, UN secretary general Antonio Guterres and World Trade Organisation director general Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Also participating will be influential figures such as Africa’s first female astronaut Sara Sabry, actor Lupita Nyong’o and popular musicians Fally Ipupa and Patoranking.

Themed Unstoppable Africa: Shaping Global Ambitions for Agenda 2063, the two-day event aims to facilitate high-level discussions on critical topics such as trade, energy access, artificial intelligence and the creative sectors, including African fashion, arts, and sports.

Other sessions will cover essential themes such as the role of education in Africa’s growth, digital inclusion for girls and young women, and harnessing AI and cloud technologies for sustainable development.

The sessions will be livestreamed to a global audience, allowing for broader engagement on Africa’s development challenges and solutions.
