The Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA) has temporarily suspended the implementation of newly introduced taxes on imported products following a meeting with representatives from the Union of the New Generation of Freight Forwarders and Importers of Used Vehicles of Côte d'Ivoire (SNGTIVO).

The suspended taxes, which were set to take effect in September 2024, included rates of 150,000 CFA francs per ton for passenger vehicles, utility vehicles, and trucks, and 30,000 CFA francs per ton for their spare parts. Additional taxes were also planned for alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and perfumery items.

The government has acknowledged the concerns raised by importers and has indicated that the Ministry of Transport will soon address the matter and provide a definitive response.
