Addressing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Bourita reaffirmed Rabat’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and highlighted the ongoing commitment of King Mohammed VI, who serves as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people.

“The Palestinian issue remains a top priority for Morocco and is a cornerstone of our foreign policy,” said Bourita, reiterating the Kingdom’s unwavering support for the Palestinian Authority in its efforts to uphold the legitimate rights of its citizens.

The minister outlined four key priorities identified by King Mohammed VI to end the cycle of violence in the region. The foremost priority is an urgent appeal for de-escalation to achieve a lasting ceasefire and to protect civilians in accordance with international law and humanitarian standards. He also underlined the necessity of facilitating humanitarian aid delivery to the people of Gaza and reviving political dialogue centered on the two-state solution.

Bourita further emphasized the importance of preserving the character of Al-Quds, underscoring its historical and cultural significance as a hub of coexistence for followers of the three major monotheistic religions. He asserted that maintaining the city’s legal and demographic status is critical for fostering peace and understanding.

In addition to discussing the Palestinian issue, Bourita addressed Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation, stressing that partnerships with other African nations are central to Morocco’s development agenda in strategic sectors such as food security, health, and education.

Reflecting on King Mohammed VI’s remarks at the 13th NAM Summit, Bourita reiterated the call to prioritize South-South cooperation, highlighting the necessity for countries to work together and mobilize their resources to tackle the challenges posed by globalization. He acknowledged the unique difficulties faced by nations in the Sahel and Sahara and mentioned the King’s recent international initiative launched in honor of the 48th anniversary of the Green March, aimed at improving access to the Atlantic for these countries.

This initiative reaffirms Morocco’s commitment to sustainable development in the region. During his visit to New York, Bourita also held discussions with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic-Radman, who expressed shared values and mutual commitments to peace and stability, praising Morocco’s proactive role on the global stage.
