Netflix confirms crushing news for revival of epic show with rare 96% Rotten Tomatoes score --[Reported by Umva mag]

Any hopes for a revival of Warrior have been dashed, with one of the stars confirming series four won’t be happening.

The Max series originally ended last year, but found a new home on Netflix US in February 2024.

The plan was reportedly to see if it would take off on the platform, and then the rejuvenated popularity could have possibly led to the series returning.

This is something Netflix have done in the past with series such as Gilmore Girls and Manifest – but often they need to rank in the top 10, which Warrior didn’t manage to do for a sustained period of time.

It was the 80th most-watched show in the first half of the year for the streamer and racked up a quarter of a billion hours watching hours. However, it wasn’t enough to secure future episodes, reported Forbes.

Joe Taslim, who played Li Yong, has said the third series, which aired last year, would be the last.

The 43-year-old actor wrote on X: ‘So many times, wherever I go, people come to me and say thank you for Warrior. Now I know the true meaning of an actor.

‘It goes way above entertainment. Season 3 is our last season, we don’t have the chance to continue the story. But still so grateful. Thank You,’ he concluded.

Fans shared their devastation at his confirmation that Warrior wouldn’t be continuing.

‘I just wanted to say whole cast & crew knocked it out of the park. Now I think you guys should have gotten one more season to finish everything off but you guys gave us 3 brilliant seasons & imo the greatest episode of television of all time for me in Enter the Dragon,’ responded Sal Scalici.

Paul added: ‘I’m so sad. One of my favorite shows ever. I was hoping we’d still get another season even after it went to Netflix. Thank you for 3 amazing seasons of an amazing show.’

Account Countdown City Geeks echoed the sentiment, writing: ‘Warrior is arguably the best martial arts series ever. Not continuing it is a travesty. My thanks go out to the brilliant cast & crew for 3 remarkable seasons.’

While others considered starting a petition to get Netflix’s attention.

The fandom’s passion for the series has led to impressive numbers on Rotten Tomatoes. Warrior was given a rare 96% score by the audience, and 93% by critics.

The crime drama based on the writings of martial arts legend Bruce Lee originally aired in 2019.

The series is set in the latter half of the 19th century during brutal gang wars in San Francisco’s Chinatown. It follows Chinese immigrant and martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) as he arrives in the city under mysterious circumstances.

After he proves his fighter credentials, Sahm becomes a hit man for one of Chinatown’s most powerful organised crime families.

As he is mentored by the son of the crime family’s leader, learning the ins and outs of gang warfare, Sahm wins the confidence of brothel madam Ah Toy, eventually revealing to her his true intentions.

The good news is there are 30 episodes in existence that viewers can still devour.
