The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has unveiled a range of homegrown technology solutions, reinforcing its commitment to the country’s socio-economic development.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr Khalil Halilu, told a news conference that the agency is the leading technology transfer organisation in Nigeria.

According to the statement by the Director of Information of NASENI, Mr Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, Halilu emphasized his commitment to transitioning NASENI’s innovations from “conceptualization to market readiness”.

Speaking on his achievements in the first year in office, the NASENI boss said that under his leadership, the agency had introduced 36 new products, including solar irrigation pumps, electric vehicles, and smart home systems.

“I made promises of increased activities and a market-ready technology profile for NASENI upon my assumption of office. Today the products are here for you all to see.” Halilu said.

He expressed optimism about future initiatives, asserting that NASENI would continue to evolve to better serve the nation’s development goals.

Halilu highlighted the collaborative approach taken to develop those products, stating, “We collaborate, we do technology transfer, we domesticate and commercialise together.”

He noted that the products were the result of partnerships with strategic allies and original equipment manufacturers, ensuring significant local content in their creation.

According to him, NASENI’s products are primarily marketed in the corporate sector, but plans are underway to establish a retail showroom.

“We want to have a showroom where people can walk in and buy in retail, and we are in the process of setting that up soon,” Halilu revealed.

He added that the innovative array of products available from NASENI reflected a growing commitment to harnessing local talent and resources, potentially transforming Nigeria’s technological landscape.
