Who is RFK Jr.'s family?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a well-known member of the famed Kennedy family.

He is the son of the late former US Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and human rights advocate Ethel Kennedy.

He is also the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated on November 22, 1963, while in office.

RFK Jr. has been married to actress and comedian Cheryl Hines since 2014.

He was previously married to Mary Richardson Kennedy from 1994 to 2012 and Emily Ruth Black from 1982 to 1994.

The politician has six kids, including Robert Francis “Bobby” Kennedy III, Kathleen Alexandra “Kick” Kennedy, Conor Richardson Kennedy, Kyra LeMoyne Kennedy, William Finbar “Finn” Kennedy, and Aidan Caohman Vieques Kennedy.

TROUBLED ROMANTIC

Kennedy Jr. is no stranger to marital entanglements, with some of his relationships having overlapped.

He met his first wife, Emily Ruth Black, while studying law at the University of Virginia.

They were married from 1982 to 1994 and had two children, Robert “Bobby” Kennedy III and Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy.

Just weeks after his marriage to Black ended, he wed Richardson, whom he was dating during his separation.

Kennedy Jr. and Richardson had four children, Conor, Kyra, Aidan, and William “Finn” Kennedy.

At the time of Richardson’s 2012 death, Kennedy Jr. was reportedly already dating Cheryl Hines.

In 2014, he wed Hines, to whom he remains married.

STANDOUT JOURNO

Nuzzi, the Washington correspondent for New York Magazine, continued to cover the 2024 election after her initial piece on Kennedy Jr. went live in November 2023.

For the Kennedy Jr. profile, Nuzzi visited his Brentwood, California home and the two also went hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Since then, she’s covered Donald Trump’s campaign heavily, reporting from Mar-a-Lago as recently as a few weeks ago.

Trump endorsed Kennedy Jr. after the Independent presidential candidate bowed out of the race on August 23.

Kennedy Jr. has been tapped to be part of Trump’s transition team if he were to be elected in November.

Nuzzi – once named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list – also wrote about former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, as well as the GOP presidential candidate’s hush money trial.

She previously worked at The Daily Beast and often appears on MSNBC and CNN.

David Haskell, editor of New York Magazine, told staffers Nuzzi disclosed the relationship just a few days ago, according to The New York Times.

Nuzzi said the relationship began in December 2023, after her profile of Kennedy Jr. was published, and ended in August, the outlet reported.

IN FLAMES

Nuzzi, meanwhile, was engaged to Politico reporter and author Ryan Lizza, 50.

The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on September 22, 2022.

But after Nuzzi’s scandal broke, Lizza confirmed the engagement was called off.

In Friday’s Politico Playbook newsletter, Lizza broke his silence.

“Because of my connection to this story through my ex-fiancée, my editors and I have agreed that I won’t be involved in any coverage of Kennedy in Playbook or elsewhere at Politico,” Lizza wrote.

Lizza previously worked as the Washington correspondent at The New Yorker but was fired in the wake of the Me Too movement in 2017 following allegations of improper sexual conduct, according to The New York Times.

He denied the claims and any wrongdoing.

After his firing, Lizza and Nuzzi were hired to co-author a book on the 2020 presidential election.

However, that project – known as the Untitled 2020 Campaign Book – was paused in 2021, Page Six reported.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Lizza for comment.

Olivia Nuzzi's statement

New York Magazine's Washington correspondent, Olivia Nuzzi, released the following statement after reports of her relationship with RFK Jr. surfaced:

“Earlier this year, the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal.

“During that time, I did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source.

“The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict.

“I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”
