Worried neighbor Barbara North told Oklahoma City police on September 12 she’d seen the two young boys in possible distress.

She told News 9 the feces-covered kids looked at her “as if to say ‘help me.'”

When cops were at the apartment, they described an “overwhelming” stench that was “believed to be feces.”

An officer wrote in an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime: “Once the door opened, I was struck with a smell that made my stomach turn and my eyes water.”

It also alleges how the boys’ stepfather Dakota Dodd, 24, answered the door to cops at around 11:15am but appeared to have “redness and marks” on his face as if he had been asleep.

At first, Dodd allegedly tried to claim he was the only one home before later telling cops that his two stepsons were upstairs.

He then agreed to allow the responding officer to follow him to the boys’ room.

Describing the horrific scene, the officer said in the report: “On the stairs leading up to the second floor, there were piles of what appeared to be human feces.

“The smell of feces got stronger as you walked up the stairs. At the top of the stairs was a bedroom.

“The room had no furniture, aside from a child’s plastic slide and a few toys.

“There were numerous small handprints in the brown substance on the wall.”

“Located in the closet was a twin-size bedframe. The frame was standing on it’s end and did not have a mattress.”

The affidavit also says that feces was on every surface including the walls, carpeted floor and windows.

When officers opened the bedroom door, two boys aged three and four emerged “as if they had been standing at the door waiting or trying to get out”, the affidavit claims.

It also tragically said the young kids “had feces caked in their fingernail beds, palms of their hands, feet, legs and faces” and that it was “dried and did not appear to be ‘fresh’.”

An 11-month-old baby girl that was Dodd’s biological child was also discovered in the filthy apartment but was kept separate from the two boys.

Dodd allegedly admitted to locking the little boys in the bedroom for over 12 hours a day so their 22-year-old mom Aubrianna Freeman could get enough sleep, News 9 reports.

He claimed to do this to “keep the kids safe due to the neighborhood”.

When crime investigators arrived at the horrendous scene, they had to wear hazmat suits to protect themselves from grime.

All three children were taken to hospital to be checked out and were consequently placed in Department of Human Services care.

Both Dodd and Freeman were taken into custody and charged with five counts each of child neglect, with their bonds set at $250,000 each.
