At a separate meeting of the union countries, Fiala, along with other countries, wants to appeal for a faster, more active, and resolute approach to migration. The topics of the summit will also include the Middle East and competitiveness, he believes.

The GCC countries include Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman. “I think it is an important meeting from an economic standpoint. It is in the EU’s interest to support relations with these countries,” stated Fiala. Presidents and prime ministers of several EU countries, including the Czech Republic, want to meet on a separate meeting concerning migration on Thursday morning before the start of the EU summit. “The Czech Republic holds the opinion that the current measures are not sufficient. We need to go further, faster, more actively, more decisively,” said the Prime Minister.
