Netflix enrages viewers after failing to release ‘hidden gem’ sitcom --[Reported by Umva mag]

Netflix fans are fuming after a promise to stream a beloved sitcom appeared to fall through.

The streaming service was due to make episodes of the 2017 series Detroiters available to customers today.

The show, created by Sam Richardson, Tim Robinson, Zach Kanin, and Joe Kelly followed best friends and next-door neighbours Sam Duvet (Richardson) and Tim Cramblin (Robinson) work together as creatives at Tim’s family’s advertising agency, producing low-budget TV commercials for local businesses.

It was a hit with critics and viewers alike, holding an impressive 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘This show is absolutely perfect in every way. The comedian timing of this duo is absolute perfection. It’s absurdist, goofy, clever, and one of a kind. Anyone with a good sense of humor will enjoy it,’ one fan wrote when awarding it five stars.

The first season was released in 2017 and was followed by a second in 2018.

However soon after its broadcaster, Comedy Central, cancelled the series.

A few years on, Netflix recently delighted fans by announcing Detroiters would be screening on the service.

It was due to arrive on October 15, however, hasn’t been added to the library yet.

Announcements about the release have also seemingly been deleted.

‘I don’t really tweet ever but am now to say Netflix are awful for not streaming Detroiters like they said they were going to??? the hell!!!!’ Chloe posted on X.

‘Does Netflix think we’ll forget that they promised us Detroiters?’ Glenna shared.

‘Hey Netflix. Where is Detroiters? It was supposed to be on today. Tim Robinson is literally the only reason I’m subscribed,’ Pete added.

Many others said they were now planning on cancelling their subscriptions.

Netflix previously confirmed the news with a tweet in September, saying: ‘This is an official Cramblin Duvet Advertising announcement. Detroiters Seasons 1 & 2 are coming.’

In a 2018 interview, writer and comedian Emily Heller spoke about why she loved working on the show and how she would sell it to those yet to tune in.

‘This is probably going to sound bad, but I don’t mean it in a bad way at all. I’ll just say, “You guys, it is so stupid. It is one of the stupidest shows on TV and I love it so much”,’ she told Vulture.

‘It’s unabashedly silly and they’re having such a good time, but not in a self-indulgent way. I realised during this interview that this is one of those shows that I feel utterly incapable of explaining what’s good about it to people.

‘But there’s so much that is good.’

After the show ended, the show’s creators Sam and Tim went on to create the sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave for Netflix.

The former, who had already had recurring roles on Veep and The Office, went on to star shows including The Afterparty.
