Thriller fans are quaking in their binge-boots for Netflix’s new flick with a stellar cast, set to be released on December 5.

Black Doves sees Keira Knightly, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire join forces for the six-episode spy thriller.

If the teaser trailer is anything to go by it’s going to be a gripping, as the dramatic clip simply shows a headshot of the three stars, with blood over their faces, as a voice over from Lancashire as spymaster Reed says: ‘I’m looking to hire someone.’

She continues: ‘No one knows if they can really do it until they try. And then they find out pretty quick. You sure this is what you want?’

Just in time for a festive night in! Although we’re not sure it’s exactly Love Actually or Bridget Jones vibes, just to be clear, as Black Doves is created and written by Joe Barton, the man behind Giri/Haji and The Lazarus Project.

Pride and Prejudice star Keira is swapping her muddied hem for fake blood, as she plays a quick-witted, down to earth mother and wife Helen Webb, who is also a professional spy.

For a decade Webb has passed on her politician husband’s secrets to the mysterious organisation she works for: the Black Doves.

When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is assassinated, her spymaster Reed calls in Helen’s old friend Sam Young (Ben Whishaw) to help her avoid the same fate, while she tracks down her enemies.

Shots released from Netflix show a blood-splattered Keira in a car alongside a sombre-looking Ben, while Happy Valley star Sarah has chopped her blonde locks into a tight bob for the fierce role.

It also looks to be a Christmassy London film – with a heart-pumping thriller twist, of course – as Keira is seen looking over the Thames as snow falls all around.

Netflix teased the film as starring the three actors ‘as you’ve never seen them before’.

It’s safe to say, fans are buzzing with the tense teaser and electric cast, as @BorkorElse wrote: ‘Keira, Ben & Sarah. It’s going to be epic.’

‘Cant wait for it to come out,’ wrote @maxtheartist_ while a suspected Happy Valley fan archiepops wrote on Instagram: ‘Sarah Lancashire! I don’t even care what it’s about!’

This comes after Sarah bagged a best leading actress Bafta for her portrayal of no-nonsense Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the swansong of Sally Wainwright’s Yorkshire-set thriller, Happy Valley.

Fans were in bits after the final episode aired on BBC One in February last year, leaving a big old Sarah Lancashire gap in many cop drama-loving hearts.

Let’s hope this can fill it…

Black Doves is available to stream on Netflix on December 5.
