Eleven years later, Aljaž Škorjanec still vividly remembers a moment on the dance floor that continues to bring a smile – and a slight blush – to his face. It happened during a particularly spirited Halloween Week performance on Strictly.
He was partnered with the effervescent Alison Hammond, and as they danced to Kate Bush’s haunting “Wuthering Heights,” an unexpected mishap occurred. Alison’s flowing sleeve completely enveloped Aljaž’s head mid-routine, momentarily obscuring his vision.
The moment was pure, unadulterated comedy. Alison dissolved into infectious laughter the instant the music stopped, a reaction Aljaž readily joined. He recalls being unable to help but share in her joy, a testament to her captivating spirit.
“Once we finished dancing that dance-off, Alison burst into laughter that lasted about ten minutes,” Aljaž shared, fondly remembering the incident. “You can’t help but laugh with her. Thank you for making me laugh, every single day.”
This year, Aljaž’s journey on Strictly took an unexpected turn when he was paired with the dynamic La Voix. Their partnership, brimming with potential, was unfortunately cut short by injury just before the Blackpool special.
Initially, La Voix was granted a pass to the next week due to the injury, adhering to the show’s regulations. However, a more somber update soon followed, delivered by hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, confirming La Voix’s withdrawal from the competition.
Despite the setback, both Aljaž and La Voix are set to return for the grand finale, joining the remaining celebrities and professional dancers – excluding Thomas Skinner – for one final, dazzling performance.
