A striking sign, emblazoned with “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard,” now graces the ballroom at Mar-a-Lago, a prelude to a formal dedication ceremony. The event marks a significant change for a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Today, the roadway connecting Palm Beach International Airport directly to the former president’s resort will officially bear his name. The ceremony, scheduled for 3:15 p.m., solidifies a decision made months ago by county commissioners.
The renaming wasn’t without debate, sparking considerable public discussion before the Palm Beach County Commission ultimately approved the measure with a unanimous 7-0 vote. Legislation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis paved the way for the change.
Interestingly, the new name appeared on digital maps almost immediately after the vote last July, catching some drivers by surprise. The stretch between Kirk Road and South Ocean Boulevard now prominently displays the new designation.
Following the commission’s decision, the former president expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the support of the Palm Beach County Commissioners, Governor DeSantis, and Florida lawmakers. He proudly affirmed his residency in the state, declaring his affection for Florida.
This isn’t the first instance of a local roadway honoring the former president. The Miami-Dade County Commission recently approved the designation of “President Donald J. Trump Avenue” in Hialeah, following his recent electoral success in the region.
The Miami-Dade decision, made by a majority-Democrat commission, came after a historic victory for the former president in the county, breaking a decades-long pattern of Republican defeats in the area.
