VIRGINIA SCHOOLS BRAINWASH KIDS: Jan. 6 as INSURRECTION—TRUTH BANNED!

Virginia has enacted a new law dictating how the events of January 6th, 2021, will be presented in public school classrooms. The legislation explicitly defines the Capitol riot as a violent attack, firmly rejecting any portrayal of it as a peaceful demonstration.

This bill arrives amidst a wave of controversial legislation passed since the election of Governor Abigail Spanberger and a significant increase in Democratic representation in the state House. These changes have empowered Democrats to reshape the political landscape, including a contentious effort to redraw congressional districts.

House Bill 333, spearheaded by Delegate Dan I. Helmer, directly prohibits instruction that characterizes the January 6th insurrection as peaceful. It also bars the presentation of unsubstantiated claims regarding widespread election fraud influencing the 2020 presidential outcome.

The law doesn’t outline specific criminal penalties for non-compliance, but aims to establish a clear and consistent narrative regarding the events of that day. Delegate Helmer expressed concern over attempts to revise the historical record, citing a White House website presenting what he considers a false account.

Opposition to the bill has emerged from various groups, including the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists. Their executive director argued that education should focus on preparing students for life, not advancing political agendas, and that focusing on the event serves only partisan interests.

Delegate Helmer, a veteran of the Iraq War and advocate for gun control, previously flipped a historically Republican district in Fairfax County. He is now running for Congress in a newly-drawn district that has drawn criticism for its unusual shape and perceived partisan intent.

Helmer’s past political campaigns have been marked by strong anti-Trump rhetoric, including an ad comparing the former president to Osama bin Laden. Despite recusing himself from the congressional redistricting process, he remains a close ally of House Speaker Don Scott, who led the effort.

The redrawn congressional map faces a voter test in an upcoming special election. Helmer has already attracted a Democratic challenger, J.P. Cooney, a former prosecutor involved in the investigation of the former president, who cited a perceived lack of congressional oversight and a recent shooting incident as factors in his decision to run.

This legislation represents a significant step by Virginia lawmakers to control the narrative surrounding a pivotal moment in recent American history, ensuring a specific interpretation is conveyed to future generations within the state’s public schools.
