TRUMP BETRAYAL: Congressman SHOCKED by Abandonment!

Former Congressman Jerry Carl is attempting a political comeback in Alabama, but faces a formidable challenge. His path back to Washington is complicated by a rising contender, State Representative Rhett Marques, who appears to embody the current “MAGA” spirit within the state’s Republican base.

Carl seems to be bracing for a scenario where former President Trump won’t intervene on his behalf. At a recent campaign stop, he openly expressed doubt about a potential endorsement, suggesting Trump might see involvement as detrimental to his own interests. It’s a stark contrast to previous races.

Trump previously endorsed Carl in two separate elections, a support that came before Carl publicly questioned the events of January 6th, 2021. Those earlier endorsements now feel distant, overshadowed by Carl’s increasingly critical stance towards the former president’s actions.

Representative Jerry Carl addresses the camera in front of an American flag, discussing key issues relevant to Alabama constituents.

In a 2022 interview, Carl didn’t mince words, calling January 6th “an embarrassing day for the country” and describing Trump’s behavior as “questionable at best.” He even advocated for the prosecution of those who stormed the Capitol – individuals who have since received pardons from Trump.

Carl’s condemnation of the January 6th rioters has been consistent and forceful. He vividly recalled his anger and frustration, stating he was “still mad about it” and refusing to minimize the gravity of the event. He directly stated the actions were “no place in America.”

On the day of the Capitol riot itself, Carl released a video message condemning the violence, explicitly stating it did not represent American democracy or the “MAGA movement” he knew. He painted a picture of a destructive mob intent on dismantling the government.

Financially, Carl is at a distinct disadvantage. Rhett Marques has significantly outraised him, bolstered by endorsements from influential figures like U.S. Senator Katie Britt and the powerful business advocacy group, Manufacture Alabama. This financial disparity presents a significant hurdle for Carl’s campaign.

Adding to the complexity, Carl recently referred to Trump as a “lame duck,” predicting his presidency would be limited to just two more years. This seemingly dismissive remark could further alienate him from the core Trump supporters who now dominate the Alabama Republican landscape.

The primary election, scheduled for March 19th, will be a crucial test for both candidates. Alongside Carl and Marques, Joshua McKee and Austin Sidwell are also vying for the Republican nomination in Alabama’s First Congressional District, adding further layers to this already compelling race.
