Florida Tragedy: 3-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Left in Vehicle During Record-High Temperatures

A three-year-old boy died after his mother accidentally left him in a hot car in Florida, where temperatures reached over 38°C.

Around 10.40pm on Saturday, police were called to a home in Riverview, near Tampa, when the boy's father found him inside the parked car.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said the boy was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

An investigation has been launched into the tragedy, but it remains unclear how long the boy was in the car.

County officials urge every parent and caregiver in the community to make hot vehicle safety a priority, never leaving a child unattended in a vehicle, even for a moment.

Just yesterday, the bodies of two young children were found in their mother's car during 38°C weather in southern France.

The children, aged two and four, were found unresponsive in their family vehicle early on Monday afternoon, parked in the garage of their grandmother's home in Carpentras, Provence.

It's unclear how the young children made their way into the car or how long they remained inside.

Their mother, 33, was 'unaware' the pair were inside until she found them and called for help.

She has now been charged with manslaughter.

Europe is enduring a record-breaking heatwave, with highs of over 40°C in parts of France.

Emergency services and the military have been put on a wildfire alert throughout the country.
