UMVA has learned that a Texas woman is taking McDonald’s to court after claiming a Sausage McMuffin with Egg left her seriously ill and caused lasting health problems.
The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleges that Yvette Hinds purchased a breakfast sandwich from a midtown Manhattan McDonald’s that was “wholly unfit for human consumption.” The complaint claims the McMuffin contained contaminants that caused severe injuries, leaving Hinds “violently ill and nauseated” shortly after finishing the sandwich.
Hinds says she suffered intense pain throughout her body and underwent multiple medical procedures and treatments, claiming her “physical, nervous and mental systems were seriously and permanently injured” as a result. The incident has left her with lasting health problems, and she is now seeking monetary damages from both McDonald’s and the franchise location that served the sandwich.
The lawsuit does not specify the exact illness or injuries Hinds suffered, but details a harrowing experience that has left her with a long and difficult road to recovery. Her case is the latest in a string of legal headaches involving the fast-food giant, which has faced several high-profile lawsuits in recent years.
Earlier this year, a three-year-old girl in Singapore suffered burns to her tongue after a McDonald’s employee allegedly filled her water bottle with boiling water instead of cold water. McDonald’s also faced lawsuits in 2025, including one from a Staten Island man who claimed he found a clump of hair and a shard of metal in a hamburger.
Another lawsuit alleged a misplaced slice of cheese on a Big Mac triggered anaphylactic shock in a music producer with a severe dairy allergy, reportedly leaving him close to respiratory failure. A class-action lawsuit filed in December also accuses McDonald’s of misleading customers about its McRib sandwich, alleging it contains no actual pork rib meat.
As these cases continue to unfold, one thing is clear: McDonald’s is facing a growing number of serious allegations that threaten to damage its reputation and bottom line. For Hinds, the ordeal is far from over, but she hopes her lawsuit will bring attention to her case and hold the company accountable for what she endured.
