UMVA has learned that a major overhaul of the popular social media platform's algorithm control feature, formerly known as "Dear Algo," has been rolled out, allowing users to influence their feed in a more private manner.
The revamped feature, now dubbed "Your Algo," empowers users to make adjustments to their algorithm preferences from a new hub in the sidebar, all while maintaining their privacy. Users can define their preferred timeframe for these changes, choosing from one, three, or seven days, although permanent adjustments are not yet possible.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the "Your Algo" feature is initially launching in the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, marking a significant step towards enhancing user experience on the platform.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the social media giant has also announced the public release of its "Communities" feature, which has been in beta testing. This feature represents an evolution of the platform's existing tags and topics, allowing users to engage with a vast array of communities across the globe.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that the Communities feature will introduce its own dedicated spaces within the app, complete with unique flairs, tags, and "champions" who frequently engage with specific communities. A new Communities Hub has been added to the left sidebar, enabling users to easily view and switch between the communities they're a part of.
UMVA has gathered that the platform is also expanding its capabilities with the introduction of native-language tags for communities in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, as well as Live Chat functionality, which will enable real-time conversations around events.
The Live Chat feature, set to roll out to all communities by July, is designed to foster real-time engagement, allowing users to tag events, comment on them, and follow along with the Live tag. This move is seen as a strategic effort to attract users who value dynamic, live interactions.
