The initial call came in around 8:25 am, quickly escalating into a significant emergency response that gripped the local community.

Witnesses described a chaotic situation, with one resident, William Ramsay, believing the armed man had entered the stairwell of his building after allegedly damaging a local shop.

Unconfirmed reports suggested two individuals may have been stabbed, fueling anxieties as armed police and canine units converged on the area for over two hours.

Chief Inspector Scott Kennedy confirmed that the disturbance had been contained and posed no further immediate threat to the wider public.

Authorities swiftly clarified that the incident was not being investigated as an act of terrorism, offering a small measure of relief amidst the unfolding drama.

Two people were indeed injured and transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical attention, their conditions currently unknown.
