Toronto Resident Charged with Murder in York Region, Authorities Allege Large-Scale Financial Exploitation of Senior Citizen.

A 44-year-old Toronto man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 28-year-old Isaiah Peters Alexander. Alexander was found injured in a laneway in the York area on Friday and later pronounced dead at hospital.

Police responded to a medical complaint call at about 2:15 a.m. in the Eglinton Ave. W.-Yarrow Rd. area, where an unresponsive male was found. Paramedics attempted to revive him before rushing him to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police identified Alexander as the victim of the city's 15th homicide and said that he had been shot. Omar Peters, the 44-year-old suspect, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder.

Isaiah Peters Alexander, of Toronto, is the city's 15th homicide victim this year.

A 62-year-old Whitchurch-Stouffville man has been charged after allegedly transferring over $900,000 into his account fraudulently while holding power of attorney for a 95-year-old male. Durham Regional Police began investigating the suspect in April 2025.

Investigators determined that the suspect had allegedly transferred funds from the victim's account without their knowledge or consent. The suspect was taken into custody on Monday and charged with theft by person holding power of attorney, theft over $5,000, and possessing proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The suspect and victim are known to each other, but the identity of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-579-1520, Ext. 5618.

Two Montreal men are facing multiple charges after allegedly committing prescription fraud at pharmacies in Oshawa. Durham Regional Police responded to a fraud call at a pharmacy on Friday, where a male allegedly attempted to fill a prescription with fraudulent documents.

Police found a suspect vehicle at a second pharmacy, and two suspects were taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle located fraudulent medication prescription documents and a large quantity of prescription medication valued at over $15,000.

Mohamed Oudha, 26, and Mohamed Boulfred, 39, were charged with fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Boulfred is also charged with breach of probation.

A 39-year-old East Gwillimbury man is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to fraudulently open accounts at multiple banks in Oshawa. Durham police responded to a fraud call at a Scotiabank on Friday, where a male allegedly attempted to open an account using fraudulent identification.

Kyle Ryan Cabral is charged with fraud under $5,000, three counts of possessing an identity document of another, uttering a forged document, obtaining identity information for fraudulent offence, and two counts each of failure to comply with a probation order and personation to gain advantage.
