President Trump has announced the nomination of Lance Schroyer to serve as the next Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Schroyer, a former Oklahoma State Trooper and U.S. Marine, boasts over 29 years of law enforcement experience. He will replace Acting ICE Director Dave Venturella, who has overseen the agency since the previous director's departure.
It has been 11 years since the Department of Homeland Security has had a Senate-confirmed ICE Director. Trump's decision to nominate Schroyer marks a significant step towards filling this critical position.
In a statement, President Trump praised Schroyer's background and experience, highlighting his success in locking up dangerous criminals and his ability to work effectively with state and federal partners.
"Lance has firsthand experience getting Illegal Aliens off our streets," Trump said. "He has what it takes to DETAIN AND DEPORT Illegal Alien Criminals, including murders, rapists, and drug traffickers at a rate never seen before."
Department of Homeland Security Chief Markwayne Mullin also praised Trump's decision to nominate Schroyer, citing his extensive law enforcement experience and ability to lead effectively.
"With over 29 years of law enforcement experience, Lance will play a vital role in helping deliver on the President's mandate from the American people to target, arrest, and deport illegal aliens," Mullin said.
The Senate will now consider Schroyer's nomination, with Trump urging them to act quickly to confirm him as the next ICE Director.
"The Senate must CONFIRM Lance, IMMEDIATELY — Do not delay," Trump said. "Together, we will MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN."
