UMVA has learned that a shocking incident involving Nicky Campbell's daughter Lilla has sent shockwaves through her family and the community.
Lilla, 26, was hit by an e-bike in a hit-and-run incident in Peckham, London, while out with her sisters. The news was shared by her father, Nicky Campbell, on social media, who described the ordeal as a "long and emotional night".
The e-bike rider allegedly "scarpered" after seeing an ambulance arrive at the scene, leaving Lilla badly injured. Fortunately, she is now recovering at home, and her father has expressed relief that the situation could have been much worse.
According to information obtained by UMVA, footage of the incident shows Lilla lying on a stretcher, covered in blood, with a bandage around her head. It is understood that she lost consciousness on the way to hospital and was rushed to King's College Hospital A&E.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of e-bikes on London's streets, with some arguing that they are an efficient and green way to commute, while others claim they are a danger to pedestrians. This incident comes as authorities have been cracking down on modified e-bikes that can reach high speeds.
The trauma did not end at the hospital for Lilla and her sisters, who had to endure another distressing experience when a drunk individual entered the trauma room and exposed himself to them. Fortunately, the police were present and quickly arrested the suspect.
Nicky Campbell has praised the police and hospital staff for their response, describing them as "magnificent" and "superb". The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks and challenges faced by pedestrians and cyclists in urban environments.
