Woman Accused of Displaying Firearm After Dispute Over Taco Bell Wait Time Escalates

A 30-year-old woman from Maryland has been arrested after allegedly displaying a handgun during an argument with Taco Bell employees.

Deputies responded to a Taco Bell in Chester, Maryland, on June 18, after reports of a customer displaying a firearm during a confrontation with staff.

Restaurant workers told deputies that the woman, identified as Ashley Andrews, became angry about the wait time for her order and began using threatening language.

According to authorities, Andrews allegedly told employees to meet her in the parking lot and later lifted her shirt to reveal a handgun, placing her hand on the weapon's grip during the argument.

Deputies detained Andrews and another individual from her group who was involved in an ongoing verbal dispute, and a loaded firearm was recovered from Andrews' person.

Surveillance video and personal video recorded by an employee appeared to support the workers' account, showing Andrews lifting her shirt to display the handgun and continuing to argue with employees.

The confrontation unfolded at a Taco Bell located in the Kent Town Market shopping center on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Andrews was initially held on a $5,000 bond but posted bail and secured her release the following day.

She was charged with second-degree assault, handgun on person, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment, and was banned from the Taco Bell property.

Andrews is being represented by a public defender and has invoked her right to a speedy trial, with a court appearance scheduled for July.
