Manchester City are reportedly set to engage in further talks with Nottingham Forest over the transfer of Elliot Anderson in a potential £130m deal.
The discussions appear to be progressing after Forest rejected a previous £120m offer from the Premier League champions.
The proposed deal would see City pay a record-breaking fee, eclipsing the current British record transfer fee, which was set last summer when Liverpool paid £125m for Alexander Isak.
Manchester United had also been keen on signing Anderson, but City appear to be making progress on an agreement.
The signing of Anderson would be a statement of intent from City, who have not won the Premier League title in the past two seasons and are now without legendary manager Pep Guardiola.
Elliot Anderson is a world-class player who has shown immense quality during his time at Forest and has become a key player for the England national team.
The move would also allow City to replace the influence of Rodri, who is not getting any younger and has had injury problems.
Anderson is currently at the World Cup 2026 with England, but it is possible for him to undergo a medical with City despite being on international duty.
England manager Thomas Tuchel has no issue with his players undergoing medicals during international duty, which could facilitate the transfer process.
