Morocco and UAE look to boost security cooperation --[Reported by Umva mag]

During his stay in the United Arab Emirates, Abdellatif Hamouchi and Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, President of Interpol, discussed Morocco’s preparations to host the 93rd session of the Interpol General Assembly, which will be held in Marrakech next year.

In a move to strengthen bilateral security ties, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, is in the United Arab Emirates from September 23-26. The visit is part of an effort to consolidate security cooperation between the two nations, with the aim of establishing a legal and organizational framework for closer collaboration.

One of the key moments of this mission was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Moroccan General Directorate of National Security, represented by the Royal Police Institute, and the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Police and Security Sciences.

The agreement paves the way for joint training and education programs in various areas of policing, while allowing for an in-depth exchange of expertise and practical experience.

The new agreement reflects the desire of both countries to capitalize on the specialised capabilities of their respective police forces, particularly in the areas of security management training and skills development.

Cooperation will also be strengthened in the area of higher education, particularly in the fields of policing, security and law.

At the same time as signing the agreement, Abdellatif Hammouchi held in-depth talks with Pilot Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander General of the Abu Dhabi Police.

The talks focused on the development of new forms of security cooperation aimed at meeting common challenges and reflecting the excellent bilateral relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

This visit is part of Morocco’s strategy to optimise its international security partnerships in a context marked by growing regional and global challenges to security and protection.
