UMVA has learned that a young man with a history of reckless behavior has been arrested again for stunt driving, this time for speeding through a quiet neighborhood at more than 40 kilometers per hour over the limit.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 23, when the 20-year-old man from Woodstock was allegedly driving at 102 kilometers per hour in a 60 kilometer zone near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Argentia Road. Police stopped the vehicle and made the arrest without incident, charging the driver with stunt driving, speeding, and several other offenses.
According to information obtained by UMVA, this is not the first time the man has been in trouble with the law for his driving. He is already awaiting trial in connection with a deadly crash in Brampton that occurred in November 2024, which killed one person and left two others injured. At the time, police say he was leaving a street racing event, and he was subsequently charged with dangerous operation causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The latest arrest has raised concerns about the dangers of stunt driving and the need for the public to report instances of reckless behavior on the roads. With some of the toughest penalties in North America, including immediate licence suspension and vehicle impoundment, the consequences of stunt driving can be severe.
