A tiny kitten became trapped behind a car’s transmission on a Georgia roadside, prompting a swift rescue by a responding law‑enforcement officer.
Two women driving by heard persistent meowing and stopped, opening the vehicle’s hood. One cat was perched on the engine, another fell out when the car halted, and a third remained hidden behind the transmission, hissing when approached.
The officer retrieved a drumstick left in the vehicle and carefully inserted it into the space to lure the kitten. After several attempts, the drumstick coaxed the animal into a position where the officer could grasp its neck and lift it safely from the engine.
He noted that kittens have strong necks, which allow their mothers to carry them, and confirmed the cat’s wellbeing after removal.
The women could not identify the cats as theirs and were unsure how the animals entered the vehicle. A thorough check of the engine revealed no additional strays.
The officer remarked that the drumstick proved an effective distraction, facilitating the successful rescue.
