PREDATOR LOCKED UP: 12 Years for Sickening Crimes Against Kids!

A 42-year-old man from LaSalle has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for horrific crimes against six young victims. Michaël Michaud’s arrest in July of last year brought an end to a decade-long pattern of abuse, stretching back to 2011 and spanning multiple communities across Quebec.

The crimes unfolded in Montreal, Laval, and smaller towns like Ste-Agathe-des-Monts and Île-Perrot, revealing a calculated predator who exploited trust. Michaud systematically targeted vulnerable children, weaving himself into the fabric of their lives through seemingly innocent offers of help.

He presented himself as a friendly figure, offering babysitting and mentorship to families. This facade allowed him access to children, where he perpetrated unspeakable acts of sexual abuse, betraying the confidence placed in him.

Michaël Michaud, 42, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Last spring, Michaud pleaded guilty to approximately ten charges, including possession of child pornography, sexual contact with minors, and voyeurism. The details emerging from the Montreal courthouse painted a disturbing picture of calculated exploitation.

Investigators uncovered a chilling digital archive on Michaud’s devices: 1,600 photographs and 26 videos depicting his victims. Beyond that, authorities found a vast collection of over 46,000 images and 11,600 videos of child pornography, revealing the depth of his depravity.

Court reports revealed Michaud admitted to “degrading treatment” of a seven-year-old boy, and confessed to sexually abusing four other children between 2011 and 2023. He also admitted to secretly filming his crimes and engaging in voyeuristic acts against a fifth child.

Adding another layer of complexity to the case, Michaud is HIV-positive, raising serious concerns about the health and well-being of his victims. This detail underscores the profound and lasting harm inflicted upon these young lives.

While reports indicate Michaud has “intellectual limitations” and “neuro-developmental problems,” the Crown prosecutor emphasized the crucial need for him to confront the gravity of his actions. Karine Lagacé-Paquette stated he “still has a lot of work to do to understand the harm done.”
