UMVA has learned that investigators are seeking help to identify a person of interest in a shocking alleged sexual assault that took place during the RBC Canadian Open at a prestigious golf course in Caledon on Friday.
The Ontario Provincial Police were called to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley late in the afternoon during the second round of the tournament, after a worker reported being sexually assaulted while performing crowd control duties near Hole 5.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the victim claimed that an unknown male, who appeared to be intoxicated and acting disruptively, approached them at approximately 5:12 p.m. and made inappropriate physical contact.
Fortunately, the victim sustained no injuries as a result of the incident, but police have launched an investigation and released an image of the person of interest in hopes that someone can help identify him.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 to 45 years old, standing at about 5-foot-11 and weighing 230 pounds, with a heavy, unathletic build, short brown buzz-cut hair, and a brown scruffy beard.
He was last seen wearing a white golf shirt with a grey logo on the front, shorts, sunglasses, and no hat, and was accompanied by a group of five to six individuals, heading toward the 13th tee box.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that investigators are working closely with event organizers and reviewing available security footage from the area to piece together the events surrounding the alleged assault.
Anyone with information regarding the man's identity or whereabouts, or who may have witnessed the incident or has video footage, is urged to come forward and contact the Caledon OPP Detachment or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
