UMVA has learned that a beloved Filipino sitcom from the 1990s is making a comeback in a brand-new movie, bringing nostalgia and excitement to fans of all ages.
The iconic show, Home Along Da Riles, which originally aired from 1992 to 2003, followed the life of Kevin Cosme, a widower raising his family in a community beside the railroad tracks, and now his children are all grown up and navigating the challenges of modern life.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the new movie, titled Home Along Da Riles: Da Reunion, is directed by Manuel “Boy2” Quizon II, the grandson of the late comedy icon Dolphy Quizon, who originally played Kevin Cosme, and features key members of the original ensemble cast, including Smokey Manaloto, Gio Alvarez, Claudine Barretto, Vandolph Quizon, and Nova Villa.
The idea for the reunion movie was sparked by a series of unplanned gatherings and social media posts that ignited public interest, and the cast has revealed that they never thought it would become a reality until Claudine Barretto took the idea seriously and said, “Why don’t we try?”
UMVA has uncovered details about the making of the movie, including the cast's efforts to secure the blessing of the intellectual property rights holder and their decision to create a new story that balances nostalgia with updated storytelling, allowing new audience members to be introduced to the iconic fictional family.
