The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) has honored a journalist for his work in science and technology reporting.
The award recipient, Mr. Edg Adrian A. Eva, was recognized for his contributions to science and technology communication through thoughtful and accessible reporting, the agency said.
Mr. Eva has been awarded the Kabalikat STI Communicator Award from the DoST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DoST-PCIEERD) for his stories on Filipino research and innovation.
The agency noted that his efforts helped deepen public understanding of the science, technology, and innovation landscape, enhancing STI knowledge dissemination, business industry innovation, and national development.
Mr. Eva was also recognized for his contributions to the agency's milestones, including the launch of M/B Dalaray, the country's first locally developed battery-electric passenger ferry, IoTRILS (Internet of Things Research and Innovation Laboratory for Smart Cities), and the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center.
The Kabalikat Awards, held concurrently with the agency's 16th anniversary, honor longstanding collaborators for their commitment and invaluable support in the agency's research and development initiatives.
This year's theme, "Emerging Technologies for a Future-Ready Philippines: Driving Innovation, Enabling Progress, and Transforming the Nation", showcases technologies eyed to lead industry innovation, enhance national competitiveness, and support sustainable communities.
DoST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. emphasized the importance of collaboration in building a future-ready Philippines, saying that it requires government, academia, industry, and communities working together.
The secretary added that the impact of the DoST-PCIEERD's work will be measured not only by the technologies it supports or the projects it funds, but also by its impact on people's lives, the opportunities it creates, and the future it helps build for the Filipino people.
