MURDER CASE EXPLODES: Did Police Botch the Evidence?!

MURDER CASE EXPLODES: Did Police Botch the Evidence?!

Fifteen years after a promising young real estate agent was brutally murdered, a chilling cold case has resurfaced with startling accusations. Kristin Ramsey, now 53, stands accused of first-degree murder in the death of Ashley Okland, a vibrant woman gunned down during an open house in April 2011.

The defense is now alleging a critical flaw in the prosecution’s case: the potential loss or destruction of vital evidence. A recent court filing reveals Ramsey’s legal team claims authorities mishandled key pieces of information during the initial investigation, casting a shadow over the long-awaited arrest.

According to the filing, the state has admitted to losing or destroying evidence, case information, or both, since Okland’s death. The defense is demanding full disclosure, requesting all evidence related to the case, including the identities of everyone involved in the investigation, and a detailed accounting of anything that has vanished.

The scene itself was stark and unsettling. Okland was shot twice at close range – once in the chest, once in the face – while showcasing a model home owned by Rottlund Homes, the company where Ramsey was employed at the time. The violence abruptly ended a life full of potential, leaving investigators with a puzzle that remained unsolved for over a decade.

A crucial witness provided a disturbing account to authorities. Looking out a window, she observed Ramsey pacing near her vehicle, intently focused on her phone. This observation quickly escalated as the witness watched Ramsey rapidly and erratically back out of the driveway and flee the scene.

Remarkably, it wasn’t Ramsey who alerted authorities to the shooting; it was the witness. This detail, coupled with other emerging information, paints a troubling picture. Prosecutors have revealed Ramsey allegedly contacted a colleague at Rottlund Homes immediately after the shooting, but notably did *not* call 911.

Further complicating matters, Ramsey’s statements regarding her whereabouts on the day of the murder have been inconsistent across multiple interviews. This shifting narrative has fueled suspicion and raised questions about her potential involvement.

A search of Ramsey’s home in 2011 uncovered a disturbing collection of items: firearms, illegal drugs, and posters depicting violent imagery. These same items were reportedly recovered during a second search just before her recent arrest, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

Ramsey has entered a plea of not guilty. Her defense team is currently seeking a significant reduction in her $2 million bond, arguing for a more reasonable amount of $100,000. As the legal battle unfolds, the motive behind this alleged act of violence remains shrouded in mystery.

The case now hinges on the availability of evidence – or the lack thereof. The defense’s claims of lost or destroyed materials could prove pivotal, potentially undermining the prosecution’s ability to secure a conviction in this haunting, 15-year-old cold case.
