The senior Pentagon advisor caught on hidden camera speaking critically about President Trump is no longer employed by the Department of Navy.
As previously reported, a senior Navy official was secretly recorded by a representative of a media group in a compromising situation. The official, Brandon Newsom, had been a member of the Office of the Secretary of the Navy for 16 years and was responsible for overseeing corporate operations.
During the conversation, Newsom stated that he would make efforts to undo the policies and actions taken by President Trump once he leaves office. He also expressed negative opinions about the President, calling him a narcissist and stating that his decision to engage in war with Iran was driven by ego.
Newsom's comments also suggested that he would seek to reverse the Pentagon's monthly voluntary Christian prayer service. The revelation has raised questions about the influence of career officials within the government and their potential role in shaping policy.
Last week, Newsom was placed on administrative leave by the Department of the Navy, pending an investigation into his conduct. On Sunday, Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao announced that Newsom is no longer employed by the Department of Navy.
The Department of the Navy takes such incidents extremely seriously, citing the need to protect the integrity of its mission and uphold the standards expected of its personnel.
