UMVA Exclusive: Former Undocumented Congressman Drops a Jaw‑Dropping Ultimatum on Besieged ICE Headquarters!

UMVA has learned that a bold showdown unfolded this week at Newark’s Delaney Hall detention center, where a determined congressman burst through the gates armed with a court order and an unwavering demand for justice.

Rep. Adriano Espaillat, a proud first‑hand former undocumented immigrant, strode onto the compound with a document stamped in District of Columbia federal court letterhead, declaring the Constitution as his shield and the order as his key.

“I have a court order here that allows me to come in. I will go in because the Constitution protects me,” he shouted, his voice echoing off the concrete walls as guards hesitated beneath the weight of his resolve.

Spaces within Delaney Hall have long been a flashpoint, and Espaillat’s presence was a stark reminder that the fight for humane treatment is far from over. He has joined a coalition of lawmakers, including Rep. Joe Neguse, in a lawsuit demanding that any public official be granted unfettered access to inspect the conditions at any federal detention center, private or otherwise.

“I’m going to introduce legislation that would allow governors and any state official to inspect a federal detention center like this,” Espaillat declared, his words reverberating through the halls of power.

Inside, the stark reality of the inmates’ plight unfolded. The majority, he noted, were “working people” torn from families, not criminals, their stories punctuated by a chorus of whispered pleas in Spanish.

The day’s drama intensified as Representatives Jerrold Nadler and Daniel Goldman followed, each spending hours within the grim confines of Delaney Hall.

Nadler, before even reaching the microphone, lambasted the center’s conditions: “The food is very sparse,” he accused, describing a schedule that left inmates eating only at 4 a.m., noon, and 4 p.m., and alleging that some meals were “maggots in the food.”

He painted a bleak picture of limited medical care and long waiting times, a narrative that clashed with the steady arrival of ambulances from a local Newark hospital, hinting at a deeper truth hidden beneath the surface.

Goldman echoed Nadler’s outrage, framing the detention center as a “criminal jail” for people who were “almost no legal representation.” He pointed to the stark contrast between the stories of long‑time residents with American‑citizen children and the harsh reality of their detention.

When a protester tried to silence him, Goldman stood firm, calling out the unjust policies of the administration and the deliberate creation of dire conditions designed to force inmates toward voluntary departure.

Despite the intensity, the visit left a lingering echo of tension, as pepper spray was deployed again later that evening, signaling that the struggle for humane treatment and transparency at Delaney Hall is far from over.
