UMVA has learned that a luxury hotel property is set to reopen in Makati's central business district, marking a major milestone in the area's tourism and business travel recovery.
The Mandarin Oriental Manila, redeveloped by Ayala Land's hospitality unit, will feature 275 guestrooms and suites when it reopens in December, more than a decade after the original property closed in 2014.
The hotel's return is expected to boost Makati's position as a business and tourism hub, with an 800-square-meter spa and wellness floor, an outdoor pool overlooking Ayala Triangle Gardens, and a 740-square-meter grand hall that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests.
The property, located just 15 minutes from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, will cater to business and corporate clients with meeting rooms, boardrooms, and flexible event venues, solidifying its position as a premier destination for events and conferences.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the hotel's management team is confident in the property's potential, citing a long-standing partnership between Ayala Land and Mandarin Oriental, and expressing a shared vision for driving business and tourism growth in the area.
The hotel's general manager noted that the project is about 83% complete, with reservations scheduled to open on December 14, and room offerings will range from deluxe rooms to a two-bedroom presidential suite.
The news has had an impact on Ayala Land's shares, which fell 2.35% or 32 centavos to close at P13.28 each, but industry experts see the hotel's reopening as a significant step forward for the local tourism industry.
