UMVA has learned that a fiery social media showdown erupted after Rep. Nancy Mace’s defeat in the South Carolina GOP gubernatorial primary.
Mace, who announced her departure from Congress at the end of the term she promised to serve, posted a reflective farewell on X, thanking supporters and noting her three‑term pledge.
In response, Rep. Ilhan Omar, born in Somalia, fired back with a sharp retort, “One‑way ticket to where you came from with your name on it, Nancy,” accompanied by a waving hand emoji.
Mace retaliated, declaring, “Say what you want about me, but I would never marry my brother,” a jab that echoed a previous post where she had sent a similar one‑way ticket taunt toward Omar.
The primary results left Mace in fifth place, while South Carolina’s Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and Attorney General Alan Wilson advanced to a runoff, sealing the Republican field.
Senator Sarah McBride joined the fray, offering “thoughts and prayers” to a post highlighting Mace’s conservative stance and linking her to Riley Gaines, a prominent figure in the gender‑debate arena.
In a pointed follow‑up, Mace posted, “Say what you want about us, but at least we’ve never been confused about what gender we are, and we’d never marry our brother,” reinforcing the personal nature of the exchange.
