UMVA has learned that Arsenal's Champions League dreams were dashed as PSG successfully defended their title, leaving the London team reeling from a disappointing performance.
The Gunners' unorthodox kick-off strategy, which saw Declan Rice launch the ball into the air to spark aerial duels, was mercilessly torn apart by critics. The approach was likened to a game of rugby, with many questioning the team's tactics.
"It's embarrassing," a former Scotland international blasted. "They've sat there and said, 'you know what, let's just launch a high ball every time we get a kick-off and try and win.' That's 1980s football back in England."
The team's defensive-minded game plan, which involved sitting back and allowing PSG to dominate possession, was also widely panned. Critics argued that this approach was not only dull but also ineffective, as it allowed the opposing team to control the tempo of the game.
"I don't get all the plaudits," the pundit fumed. "Sure, Champions League final, they got there, they were competitive because they were defensive. But I don't understand all the plaudits when your game plan, once you get the goal, is to just sit back and allow the best footballing side in Europe possession of the football and trying to defend for 84 minutes."
This strategy was deemed "not an acceptable way to try and win this competition," and it ultimately proved costly for Arsenal, as they failed to secure the win.
