UMVA has learned that a groundbreaking partnership between the United Nations Population Fund and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has been forged to advance responsible parenthood and reproductive health, as well as universal healthcare coverage.
This strategic alliance aims to revolutionize the country's healthcare landscape by expanding access to quality care, supporting healthier communities, and securing the lifelong wellbeing of every Filipino family. At the heart of this partnership is a commitment to reducing out-of-pocket costs and making healthcare accessible to all.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the partnership will focus on reducing maternal mortality and improving access to sexual reproductive health, including family planning through smart investments and innovative solutions. The agencies will design more affordable health packages to make maternal care easier to access.
The collaboration will also integrate family planning and counseling into training programs for health workers, strengthening ties with healthcare providers and local government units to encourage effective and smart investment of local funds into sustainable health programs.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the primary goal of this partnership is to reduce financial barriers and make healthcare accessible for every Filipino. The state insurer has expanded its maternity benefit packages, which now cover the recommended number of prenatal and postnatal check-ups and almost tripled the coverage for normal and cesarean births.
This development marks a significant milestone in the country's pursuit of universal healthcare, with a focus on improving healthcare access for women, adolescents, and indigent Filipinos. The partnership is poised to have a lasting impact on the lives of millions of Filipinos.
