SM Prime plans 20+ events for Cebu Arena this year

SM Prime Holdings announced a schedule of more than 20 events for 2026 at the newly opened SM Seaside Cebu Arena. The lineup aims to broaden the range of large‑scale live entertainment in the Visayas region.

Company president Jeffrey C. Lim said the objective is to capture a larger share of the live‑entertainment economy for Cebu. He highlighted that major events stimulate tourism, hospitality, transport, retail and other local services through increased visitor inflow.

The program features concerts by both local and international artists, live theatrical productions, sporting contests and family‑oriented shows. Several performers are expected to stage their first major productions in the Visayas.

The arena was developed as consumer spending on live entertainment has risen since the pandemic, particularly among younger audiences. Improvements in ticketing platforms and venue technology also support growing demand.

In May, SM Prime entered a partnership with Ticketmaster to launch SM Ticketmaster, replacing the former SM Tickets system. The joint venture combines Ticketmaster’s ticketing and fraud‑prevention tools with SM Prime’s local operating network.

Designed by the global architecture firm Arquitectonica, the arena covers more than seven hectares of gross floor area. It offers a seating capacity of up to 25,000 and includes a center‑hung display system for sports, concerts and other events.

The facility includes 30 Premier Suites situated above the VIP sections, each suite accommodating 13 to 31 guests. Suites provide dedicated VIP lounges, a café and an exclusive entrance.

Direct access connects the arena to SM Seaside City Cebu, the upcoming SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu, and nearby hotels such as Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson Blu Cebu. These links enhance convenience for attendees and event organizers.

On Thursday, SM Prime Holdings shares rose 0.99 percent, closing at 18.36 Philippine pesos per share. The modest gain reflects investor confidence in the venue’s revenue potential.
