At the 10th Asian Pencak Silat Championship held in Dong Nai, Vietnam, the Philippines secured a single gold medal in the women’s singles seni event.
Hiraya Francine Padios delivered a standout performance, earning a score of 9.915 to claim the top spot. The 22‑year‑old from Aklan added a gold to the nation’s medal tally, which also included five silvers and five bronzes.
Padios has previously shown her prowess on the international stage, winning gold at the Hanoi Southeast Asian Games four years ago and taking silver in the 2019 edition held in Subic at age 15.
Additional Philippine medals came from silver in the Tanding Class B Female 50‑55 kg by Kram Airam Carpio and from the Male Regu‑Seni, Tanding Class I Male 85‑90 kg, Tanding Class Open 1 Male, and Tanding Class Open 2 Female events, where Rick Ortega, Mark Laurenz Ortega, Edmar Tacuel, Kyan Voyde Garcia, Stephen Suazo, and Mary Justine Acat earned silver medals.
Bronze medals were awarded to Maricel Dela Torre Escalona in Tanding Class D Female 60‑65 kg, Allimar Tanilon Campos in Tanding Class F Male 70‑75 kg, Alvin Campos in Tanding Class G Male 75‑80 kg, and Joo Ash in Tanding Class H Male 80‑85 kg. Edmar Tacuel also captured a bronze in the male singles seni, marking his second medal at the championships.
