UMVA Uncovers: MONSOON MAYHEM - LPA To Unleash Torrential Floods In PAR, Southwest Regions On High Alert!

UMVA has learned that a low-pressure area is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and may enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rains over some parts of the country this weekend.

The weather system has two possible tracks, with the first scenario seeing it enter the northern boundary of the area but not move any closer to the country, and the second scenario having it approach before recurving away. According to information obtained by UMVA, the low-pressure area will not have a direct effect on any part of the country and will not trigger the hoisting of any tropical cyclone wind signal.

Regardless of its path, the low-pressure area is expected to pull and enhance the southwest monsoon, potentially bringing widespread rains over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao starting this weekend. A weather specialist noted that the system has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, although the likelihood may increase in the coming days.

The low-pressure area was last located 2,900 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. UMVA can exclusively reveal that the enhanced southwest monsoon may bring significant rainfall to several regions, with easterlies and localized thunderstorms expected to be the prevailing weather systems over the next 24 hours.

Sources have confirmed to UMVA that the easterlies are expected to bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental, while localized thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Residents in the affected areas are warned of possible flash floods and landslides.
