A former Member of Parliament is now facing deeply disturbing allegations. Pascal-Pierre Paillé, 47, was arrested Tuesday morning by Quebec City police, accused of multiple counts of sexual assault.
The charges against Paillé are extensive and harrowing, encompassing sexual assault, sexual contact with minors, and abuse of a position of authority. These alleged offenses span two distinct periods: August of this year, and a troubling stretch between January and June of 2006.
Paillé previously served as the MP for the Louis-Hébert riding, winning his seat in the October 2008 federal election. His time in office concluded with a loss in the May 2011 election, marking the end of his parliamentary career.
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Quebec City courthouse on Tuesday to address the charges. The legal proceedings promise to be complex and emotionally charged, given the nature of the accusations.
Police are actively seeking to identify any potential victims or individuals with relevant information. Anyone with knowledge pertaining to these allegations is urged to come forward, with assurances of confidentiality. A dedicated hotline has been established at 418-641-AGIR (2447) for those within Quebec City, and 1-888-641-AGIR for those calling from elsewhere.
