The Department of Information and Communications Technology announced that consolidating the government’s technology portfolio could generate up to 40 billion pesos in annual savings by eliminating redundant systems.
During the eGovPH Hackathon 2026, the department’s e‑government undersecretary highlighted how integrated services within the eGov app have already produced significant cost reductions.
The initiative follows a “Once Only” policy that discourages agencies from developing overlapping digital platforms. Standardization, bulk technology deployment, and cloud decommissioning are key tactics to reduce expenses.
Budget requests for 2027 amount to 200 billion pesos across all agencies, but a review revealed duplications that the department is addressing to streamline spending.
To foster local innovation, the department plans to allocate roughly 100 million pesos of the savings to support Filipino technology startups.
In a recent assessment, 137 startups are being evaluated to help integrate remaining agencies and services into the central eGov application.
The eGovPH app has already processed more than 800 million transactions following 56 million downloads, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation effort.
